Nearpod is a platform with real-time insights into student understanding through interactive lessons, interactive videos, gamified learning, formative assessment, and activities.
Nearpod is focused on creating online lessons for elementary and secondary schools based on (interactive) slides. Slides can also be videos.
You can upload your own videos or existing videos from YouTube or BBC Worldwide. You can also use Nearpod’s template lessons and upload your own mp4s. Interactions are limited to open and multi-per-choice questions that you add to the timeline of the video.
The strengths of Nearpod are the possibility to make interactive lessons. Interactive videos can be included in the slides of an interactive lesson or be used as a stand-alone test/exam. If you are focussed on only interactive video Nearpod is very limited in its use.
